Cape Scott is the northernmost tip of Vancouver Island, and is world famous for its stunning shoreline, remote wilderness, and multi-day hiking trails (Cape Scott Trail and the North Island Trail). This is not an easily accessible property, but it is well protected where it sits on the west side of Hansen Bight (or Hansen Lagoon/Hansen Bay as it is also known). This 2.28 acres was once part of a larger homestead community, and is the last remaining private property in this section of the park. The area is rich in history, both from First Nations and homesteader communities who tried twice to make a community in the area in the 1910s and 1920s. This property is well off the beaten track, as the Cape Scott trail traverses further inland and on the far side of the park, then along the top shoreline above the Bight out to Cape Scott lighthouse. Access to the property would be by boat from either Winter Harbour or Port Hardy. This north Vancouver Island region is rich in homesteading history stretching back over 100 years.
